The Ukrainian American Society of Texas has opened the first Ukrainian Cultural Exhibit in North Texas at the J Erik Jonsson Central Library in downtown Dallas. This exhibit is from January 23rd through March 31st, with films and lectures on weekends. Visit www.uast.org/about-Ukraine for the schedule of events.

Exhibit entrance and parking are free! Be sure to plan your visit!

Ukrainian Art, Traditional Dress, Embroidery, Ceramics, Musical Instruments, Woodworks, Pysanky (hand-painted eggs), and artwork can be viewed in multiple gallery rooms and display areas! We have information on Kharkiv, one of Dallas' Sister Cities, as well!

Opening Ceremony was held at 1 PM on Friday, January 23rd, with representatives from the City of Dallas, Dallas Central Library, dignitaries, friends, and local Ukrainian group leaders in attendance to show support for the exhibit and Ukraine.

City of Dallas representatives, Dallas Public Library, Council Members, Ukrainian Organizations

Among the distinguished guests were Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, Gal Donnell Willis, who is also City Council Member for District 13; Paul E Ridley, Dallas City Council Member for District 14; Beth Huddleston, Mayor Eric Johnson's Chief of Protocol and International Relations; Deionte Harvey and Macs Reynolds from the City of Dallas Office of Government Affairs. In attendance from the J Erik Jonsson Library were Melissa Dease, Tiffany Bailey, Kristen Calvert, Irving Bolanos and his 4th Floor staff.

UAST Founding Member and Exhibit Creator, Chrystya Geremesz, welcomed all to the opening of the exhibit and stressed the importance of educating our North Texas community about Ukraine, as Ukrainian citizens, cultural sites, and infrastructure are targets of the brutal invasion.

Deputy Mayor Willis, Councilman Paul E Ridley, and Beth Huddleston from the City of Dallas all reinforced their support for Ukraine and praised the exhibit as an important step in keeping our North Texas Community engaged.

Ambassador Slayton donated his recent publication, Portraits of Ukraine, and Chrystya Geremesz donated History of Ukraine to the Library Collection on Ukraine.

UAST is thankful for Pastor Leo Regheta's leading prayer, Diana Kirtsydeli for singing the Ukrainian National Anthem, Alena Jacobs from Ukrainian Cultural Club of Dallas, who presented the traditional bread and embroidered cloth, and Tamara Velsher with the Ukrainian Chamber of Dallas Fort Worth for their support!

Local Ukrainian vendors, Cooking Borscht, Dallie Smokehouse and Multi-Cook provided delicious soup, deli and appetizers for all. Special thanks to Cooking Borscht for the gift bags!

Special thanks to Tatyana Besmertnaya for her photographs and skill for capturing the right moments!

Many thanks go to our exhibit sponsors: UAST, Dallas Central Library and Ebby Halliday Realtors
